Salt Lake City Lifestyle Newborn Photography: Baby Mason

She told me that, unfortunately, her nursery wasn't perfectly put together.

After a recent move, the home decor wasn't quite finished, she had said.

Her little boy was insisting on awake time, and they couldn't find the swaddle blanket they wanted to use.

Yet, times like these are exactly why I love the "lifestyle" approach to newborn photography. Life doesn't need to be perfect to be documented beautifully. Babies aren't always perfectly posed. Blankets don't stay perfectly swaddled. Naps are sometimes hard to come by, and our homes are usually a work in progress. I love photographing life--real life.   And these "real-life" moments are the ones worth remembering.

One request these parents had was to get a photograph of their son with the blanket Grandma had made for him.
